MARCUS'S DREAM WEEK WITH THE SPORTING ACADEMY

Rolf Hansen 06.03.2019

Marcus Haagensen Reed became the player of the camp during the NF Academy’s training camp in Ålesund in August. The talented 11-year-old received an unforgettable training week in Sporting Lisbon as a prize.

Marcus Reed is a goal scorer. The young player was 1 out of 103 registered players of NF Academy’s Weekend Training in August last year. Among many keen football boys and girls, young Reed was picked out as the Player of the camp.

The prize was an unforgettable training week in the Sporting Lisbon Academy.

It was a nice week with sun, heat and lots of football. I trained with the team of Sporting Lisbon, and the players were very good. I had two trainings every day with a 1.5 hour break between. It is definitely tempting to go back to training with them again, says Marcus Haagensen.

NF Academy will host a new Weekend Training in Ålesund on 9-10 Mars at Rollonbana. There everyone can sign up until two days before the camp starts. NF Academy sends its best coaches to Ålesund this weekend. These Portuguese coaches have backgrounds from the Sporting Lisboa and Benfica academies. A new player of the camp should be pointed out. In addition, everyone gets four high-quality and standard workouts.

An exciting player

Marcus himself has Christiano Ronaldo as role model.

Just like the world star who started his career in the same club as Figo, Sporting Lisbon has fostered a number of famous football names on Europe. Together with Benfica and Porto, for a number of years, they have been great providers of players to the Premier League and other major football leagues in Europe.

Sports director Gonçalo Nunes is full of praise about Marcus Haagensen’s training stay at Sporting, and says that NF Academy wishes him to be back in their programs.

Marcus is a player who did well in Sporting. The coaches agreed he was practicing at a good level and want to follow him through our program, says international sports director at NF Academy, Gonçalo Nunes.

The young Rollon player is the second from Ålesund’s oldest football club, who has trained with the well-renowned academy of Sporting Lisbon. The goalkeeper Sebastian Hansen trained with one of Europe’s foremost academies in the winter holidays 2018. This year Reed and Hansen are team-mates, since Reed has been accepted as part of Rollons 2005 team.

A crew that in the 2018 season could celebrate G13 team circuit championships.

Playing with and against boys older than me is both fun and educational. A regular week is 5 training sessions with the 2008 and 2005 teams in Rollon. In addition, I practice a little on my own, says Marcus Reed in the end.

Reed will hardly be the last NF Academy player to get the chance to train with Sporting Lisbon.

There will be more chances for other players. They will see some of the academy life in Sporting from the inside, and we hope we will give them extra inspiration for them to train and to reach their goals, concludes NF Academy Sports Director, Goncalo Nunes.
